🌈 Our Story

ShayLena’s began as a recipe passed across generations, a kitchen filled with laughter, and two people who believed that food could be a bridge between cultures, communities, and hearts. What started as weekend cooking sessions and family gatherings slowly grew into something bigger: a vision to share the flavors we love with the people we love.

We’re Shannon “Shay” Hausler and Selena “Lena” Albino, a proud LGBTQ+ couple blending biracial and Puerto Rican heritage into every part of our business. ShayLena’s isn’t just our name. It’s our story stitched together, a fusion of our identities, our cultures, and the home we’re building together. Every pastelillo, every plate, every event carries a piece of us.

Our passion first sparked in our home kitchen, where we spent hours testing fillings, tweaking recipes, and inviting friends and family to taste-test everything we created. The more we cooked, the more we realized this was more than a hobby. People weren’t just eating the food; they were connecting to it. They were sharing memories, stories, and joy. It reminded us just how powerful a homemade meal can be.

In 2025, we made the decision to turn that spark into a business that honors who we are and where we come from. Our dream is to create a mobile food experience that showcases Puerto Rican flavors, celebrates diversity, and gives back to the communities that support us. Whether we’re serving at a festival, a neighborhood pop-up, a family event, or right from our kitchen, our goal is the same: bring people together through food made with intention and love.

Because ShayLena’s isn’t just food. It’s culture. It’s comfort. It’s community. It’s a table where everyone has a seat. And we’re just getting started.
